Why Midlife Circus?
Because midlife isn’t an ending — it’s the chance to step into Your Next Great Act.
We’re Rob and Brent, two friends who know that life at this stage can feel a little unscripted, beautifully broken, and limitless. Midlife Circus is where we trade polished scripts for real conversations — about reinvention, relationships, work, purpose, and everything in between.

I spent 26 years as an executive in the financial services industry, serving as a Financial Advisor, Branch Manager, and ultimately Region Vice President. Along the way, I led large teams, guided four distinct market turnarounds, and built a track record as a change leader who could deliver results in complex environments. Those years taught me how to navigate uncertainty, inspire growth, and lead with clarity — skills that continue to shape how I approach every new challenge. Eventually, though, I traded the corner office for mountain trails and a microphone.
Adventure is where I come alive. My spouse and I built a home in the Rocky Mountains, where adventure waits right outside the front door. I’ve raced Ironman triathlons, pushed through the Leadville 100 MTB and Run, and even tackled the Cocodona 250. I’ve run the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim-to-rim, trekked the Teton Crest, traversed Zion, and stood on the summit of all 58 Colorado 14ers. Whether I’m running trails, biking, skiing, rafting, or riding an adventure motorcycle, these experiences fuel the perspective I bring to Midlife Circus.
This podcast is my next great act — a place to share stories, swap laughs, and explore what it really means to reinvent yourself in midlife. Because I believe this stage of life isn’t an ending, it’s the opening to the adventure you’ve been training for all along.

I’ve spent more than 30 years in leadership — from guiding teams inside some of the world’s largest organizations to building entrepreneurial ventures of my own. Along the way I’ve co-founded five companies, served on nine boards, and advised owners through growth, exits, and reinvention. Those experiences shaped my belief that leading a life of impact requires the same disciplined strategy as leading an enterprise.
Today, I call the Rocky Mountains home with my wife and our two kids, who are now stepping into their own next chapters. As they grow and spread their wings, our home in the mountains is both anchor and refuge — a place that ties us together no matter how far life takes us. It’s also where I write and share through OnRivr, my platform on leadership, performance, and wellness, and where I invest as a Curious Investor in high-integrity, leadership-driven companies and philanthropic missions.
Adventure fuels me, often with a fly rod in hand in remote waters across the globe. Whether it’s mountain streams, saltwater flats, or wild rivers, fishing connects me to the rhythm of nature in a way nothing else can. I’ve also run mountain marathons, crossed the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim-to-rim, and taken on endurance challenges that push me beyond comfort into growth. Midlife Circus is my next great act — a space to share stories, laughter, and perspective on what it really means to reinvent ourselves at midlife.
